Function

The City Clerk's Office is a division of the Administrative Department and serves as a conduit between the City Council, Administration, and the Public by providing information on actions of the Council. The Department is responsible for maintaining documents that are essential to municipal government such as Ordinances, Resolutions and Council Minutes.


Responsibilities

The City Clerk's Office is responsible for the following:

  • Preparing the City Council meeting agendas, future agendas list and packet material;
  • Recording and transcribing the City Council's meeting minutes;
  • Assisting departments with the drafting of ordinances, resolutions and other action items;
  • Administering programs assigned by the City Council;
  • Directing the City's records management program;
  • Providing contract administration;
  • Maintaining the City Code;
  • Administering central services;
  • Handling public information requests;
  • Serving as the designated agent for receiving claims against the City;
  • Serving as liaison to King County Elections;
  • Preparing and distributing the City Newsletter.
